Optimised sample preparation is essential for imaging biological macromolecules in their native state using single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) or in situ cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET). Gergely Papp’s Team at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Grenoble, France, and Lyncée Tec team have collaborated closely to integrate a DHM in their modular and automated EasyGrid platform, designed to streamline and standardize cryo-EM/ET sample preparation and quality control. Specifically, the DHM customised for this application provides fast, precise and efficient ice-thickness mapping at cryo-temperature to determine optimal grids for cryo-EM imaging, saving analysis time and costs.
