Michael Muschol, Caroline Wenders, Gunther Wennemuth, of Universitätsklinik Essen in Germany have demonstrated that sperm cells have a chiral memory that resides in a hypothetical elastic linkage within the flagellar machinery (PLOS ONE).
The sperm flagellar waveforms and swimming paths in four dimensions (X, Y, Z and time) have beend recorded using a DHM® T1000. (read more)

A new multimodality level has been reached with the DHM T1000-Fluo-Confocal delivered in November 2019 by Lyncée Tec to Prof WANG Gang from Department of Water and Soil Sciences at China Agriculture University in Beijing. This unique system provides the most comprehensive bio-imaging information by combining three modalities: (1) Quantitative Phase Measurement (QPM) by DHM®, (2) epifluorescence measurements, and (3) a rescan confocal microscope module. Abstract : Digital holographic microscopy (DHM) is a surface topography measurement technique with reported sub- nanometer vertical resolution. While made commercially available recently, few studies have evaluated the uncertainty or noise in the phase measurement by the DHM. As current research is using the DHM to monitor surface topography changes of dissolving materials under flowing water conditions, it is necessary to evaluate the effect of water and flow rate on the uncertainty in the measurement, as all previous studies have considered uncertainty in measurements made in air.
