The following article has been accepted for publication in Journal for Biomedical Optics.
The authors exploit the phase signal as an indicator of dry mass, providing quantitative information about subcellular compartments and structures formed during the cell cycle. They have also monitored the dry mass production rate and its evolution during the cell cycle.
